Types of Massage Therapy |
||
Deep Tissue Massage releases
the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep
finger pressure or gentle cross-fiber work on the contracted areas. |
||
Trigger Point or Pressure Point
Therapy applies concentrated finger pressure to "trigger points"
to break cycles of spasm and pain, and assist the body to cleanse the
muscles of the byproducts of overuse & contraction. Trigger points are
often located away from the area that they are negatively affecting through
"referred pain"; therefore, rubbing the painful area often does
not decrease the pain. |
||
Swedish or Relaxation Massage
uses a system of long strokes, kneading, friction, and percussive
and vibration techniques on the more superficial layers of muscles, combined
with active and passive movements of the joints. It is used primarily
for general relaxation and relief of muscle tension. |
||
Aromatherapy utilizes
the essential oils of plants. They are beneficial to the body in many
ways: increasing your relaxation or energy, as antiseptics, cooling agents,
anti-inflammatories, and pain relievers. |
||
Therapeutic Touch is
used often to encourage healing. It is not a "hands-on" therapy, but was
developed by a nurse, Doris Krieger, and has been proven in scientific
studies to increase the rate of healing in the body. |
||
Reflexology is a therapy
that involves ONLY the feet or hands to affect problems in the entire
body. It was developed in the 1930's by Eunice Ingham, who followed Eastern
approaches to pain to devise a reflexology chart. Each area of the foot
or hand corresponds to part of the body, and by applying pressure to sore
or "grainy" spots, the therapist can assist the body to heal itself. |

Natural Facials are
customized to your skin type. We can individualize a facial with natural
products to cleanse, moisturize and invigorate your skin during any treatment. |
||
Ear Candling is an
ancient technique that uses coated linen tubes to draw wax out of the
ear canal, eliminating obstruction and increasing comfort. |
